TL;DR
- the coating feels amazing in hand
- feels sturdy and really precise
- the ATK hub used to update and configure the mouse offers many settings to play with (it's about 98% translated, but everything important is there)
- way better than other mainstream brands' options (a lot of them more expensive)
Purchase and unboxing: I've purchased the ultimate 2.0 version during Black Friday sales (there's other ways to get good discounts if you're interested in putting a bit of effort). Received it in the EU within 7 business days, well packaged.
Software: Got the firmware up to date immediately after unboxing, I've played a bit with The ATK Hub which has sooo many options, you'll be a bit taken back at first. It's about 98% translated into English, but I'm confident it will have everything translated soon. All the important options are translated.
Daily drive: Writing the review after using it 6-18h a day for a week. The battery still holds at 30%. I will probably charge it within 2 days. Been using it at 10k dpi with 2k polling rate (can go up to 8k) and alternating between "basic" and "competitive" modes (drains more power) while playing. You could definitely squeeze more juice out of it by using a lower polling rate in basic mode but I've wanted to see how it plays in performance mode. I could probably not tell a difference between the 2 modes unless it's in a very fast paced competitive and your reaction times would benefit from shaving milliseconds in the order of single digits.
The mouse feels very good in hand and the coating really sets it apart from other mice I've used in the past (gives it this feeling I can describe only as dry hand). The clicks from the optical switches feel very nice (managed to shave an average of 20ms on the click reaction time test compared to the old mouse). The mouse is also surprisingly light but also gives a solid feeling in hand.
The reason I've called it an upgrade is because I've been using a competitor's mice (yes, mice because I had to pay the "mouse tax" every 2 years, since all of them developed issues like scroll wheel drift, double clicking, disintegrating coating/side rubber or straight up losing connection). So I've had enough of the "big L" and started looking into other options recommended on the mouse community on reddit and through my own review hunting research.
I hope one day we'll get to see ATK in every major online shop and store chain.
