The short answer: choose
ATK F1 V3 if you want the shorter, lighter option: it measures 118.2 × 62.4 × 38.8 mm and weighs 36–37g depending on edition. Choose
ATK GHOST if you want a slightly longer, narrower X1-derived shape, a hollow carbon-fiber-composite shell and Bluetooth. GHOST measures 121 × 61.3 × 38 mm and its listed Ultimate edition weighs 48 ± 3g.
These mice overlap in size and performance, but GHOST is not simply an F1 made from a different material. F1 V3 prioritizes low weight in a solid symmetrical shell. GHOST uses an open composite structure, adds 2.8 mm of length, and is 1.1 mm narrower and 0.8 mm lower based on the published maximum dimensions.
What we are comparing: this guide uses GHOST Ultimate and the current F1 V3 Ultimate+ and Extreme+ as its hardware references. Earlier F1 generations share the same published dimensions but use different sensors, grip recommendations, weights and connectivity. This is a specification-based comparison, not a hands-on review.

Shape: GHOST is not simply a carbon-fiber F1
GHOST is 2.8 mm longer than F1 V3, but 1.1 mm narrower and 0.8 mm lower. In other words, GHOST stretches a little farther under the hand, while F1 V3 is slightly wider and taller at its maximum points. The difference you feel will depend on where your fingers and palm meet the shell.
ATK says GHOST is based on the X1 shape and scaled down for smaller hands; its specification table lists small to medium hands. It should therefore be treated as a separate shape family, not a carbon-fiber F1. F1 V3 uses the same 118.2 × 62.4 × 38.8 mm dimensions as earlier F1 generations.
In practical terms: start with F1 V3 if you want the shorter body. Start with GHOST if you want a compact mouse with a little more length. Compare both with a mouse you already know rather than judging by the model names alone.
Shell construction and feel
GHOST's hollow carbon-fiber-composite body is its defining feature. The openings change the surface under the hand and expose the interior, while F1 V3 uses a closed, hole-free shell. The choice is partly tactile and partly practical.
F1 V3's closed shell is easier to treat like a conventional mouse surface. GHOST is more relevant if the composite material and open construction are part of what you want, even though it weighs more.
Neither construction is universally better. Shell feel is personal, while the sensor specifications of both models are already positioned at the high end of ATK's lineup.
Weight and movement
GHOST Ultimate is listed at 48 ± 3g. F1 V3 Ultimate+ is 37 ± 3g and Extreme+ is 36 ± 3g. Based on the nominal figures, F1 V3 is 11–12g lighter, although the tolerance ranges mean individual units can vary.
Players who lift the mouse frequently are more likely to notice F1 V3's lower mass. That does not establish that it will produce better aim; shape and grip stability still determine whether the weight difference is useful.
Consider weight alongside dimensions and shell contact. A lighter mouse is not automatically the better fit.
Which is better for claw grip?
Both officially support claw grip and are designed for small to medium hands. F1 V3 is shorter and lighter; GHOST is longer and narrower. Your choice comes down to how much length and side contact you want.
-
Want the shortest option: start with F1 V3.
-
Want more length: start with GHOST.
-
Prioritize low weight: F1 V3 has the clear numerical advantage.
-
Prefer a narrower published width: GHOST is 61.3 mm versus F1 V3 at 62.4 mm.
Which is better for fingertip grip?
GHOST officially lists fingertip grip; F1 V3 does not. The original F1 page lists fingertip grip, but the current F1 V3 page lists claw and palm. Do not assume the earlier recommendation also applies to F1 V3.
F1 V3's shorter length and lower weight may still appeal to fingertip users, but ATK does not list fingertip grip on the F1 V3 page. GHOST is the only model in this comparison with an explicit fingertip recommendation.
Which is better for palm grip?
Both GHOST and F1 V3 list palm grip for small to medium hands. GHOST provides 2.8 mm more length; F1 V3 is slightly wider and taller at the maximum points. Neither is an obvious choice for palm grip with large hands.
For medium to large hands, X1—or an ergonomic model such as Z1 V2 or Y9—is a better place to start than either compact model.
Sensor and competitive performance
GHOST Ultimate uses a PAW3950 Ultra sensor, Nordic 54L15 controller and polling rates up to 8,000 Hz. F1 V3 uses a PAW3955 Master sensor with Nordic 54LM20 or 54H20 hardware depending on edition, also supporting up to 8,000 Hz.
Nordic Semiconductor's nRF54L15 documentation offers technical background on the controller named in GHOST's specifications, but the finished mouse also depends on firmware and the rest of ATK's implementation.
F1 V3's newer sensor name and higher maximum DPI do not automatically translate into better aim. Both mice offer far more DPI than most players use. Shape, weight and shell construction are the differences you are more likely to notice.
Battery life and connectivity
GHOST Ultimate lists a 300 mAh battery and up to 210 hours at 1,000 Hz. F1 V3 Ultimate+ lists 300 mAh and up to 300 hours at 1,000 Hz, while Extreme+ lists 200 mAh and up to 80 hours. These figures come from ATK's product pages and should be compared only at the same polling rate.
GHOST is the clear choice if Bluetooth matters because F1 V3 lists only wired and 2.4 GHz modes. If the mouse stays at one gaming PC, F1 V3's lower weight may matter more than multi-device connectivity.
Cleaning and ownership considerations
Because GHOST has an open shell, dust and debris may be more visible than on F1 V3's closed body. Keep liquids away from either mouse, and do not push cleaning tools through the openings.
F1 V3 has a smooth, uninterrupted top shell. That is not a performance advantage, but it is easier to live with if you simply do not like open-shell mice.
ATK GHOST or F1: final recommendation
Choose ATK GHOST if you:
-
Want a compact X1-derived shape rather than the shorter F1 geometry
-
Prefer a longer, narrower footprint
-
Like a hollow carbon-fiber-composite shell
-
Want a model ATK lists for claw, palm and fingertip grip
-
Need Bluetooth in addition to wired and 2.4 GHz modes
Choose ATK F1 if you:
-
Want the lower-weight option
-
Prefer a shorter compact mouse
-
Use claw grip, or palm grip with small to medium hands
-
Want a conventional closed shell
-
Care more about lower weight than Bluetooth

Frequently asked questions
Is ATK GHOST smaller than F1?
Not in every direction. GHOST is 2.8 mm longer, but 1.1 mm narrower and 0.8 mm lower than F1 V3 based on ATK's published maximum dimensions.
Is ATK F1 lighter than GHOST?
Yes. GHOST Ultimate is listed at 48 ± 3g; F1 V3 Ultimate+ is 37 ± 3g and Extreme+ is 36 ± 3g.
Is GHOST good for fingertip grip?
ATK explicitly lists fingertip grip for GHOST. F1 V3 is shorter and lighter, but its current product page lists only claw and palm. Whether F1 V3 works for fingertip grip will therefore come down to personal fit.
Does ATK GHOST have Bluetooth?
Yes. The current GHOST product specification lists wired, 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connectivity. Current F1 V3 specifications list wired and 2.4 GHz.
Does the hollow GHOST shell affect maintenance?
It can. Openings make dust more visible and require more careful cleaning than a closed shell. Keep liquids away and follow ATK's care guidance if available.
