Many people need to sit in front of a computer and use the keyboard for long periods of time consistently in their work-study life. From an ergonomic point of view, from the prevention of carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis, today we share in detail some aspects of keyboard use is need to pay attention to.
Optimal keyboard posture
According to a study by a team from Cornwell University and the University of British Columbia, the ideal typing position should be, when seated, with the keyboard below elbow height and the wrists straight and not resting on the desktop.
As shown in the figure below:
1. Place the keyboard below the level of your elbows;
2. Keep your elbows between 90° and 110°, an angle that relaxes both your forearms and shoulders;
3. The keyboard is best tilted toward the computer screen, not toward the person, if the conditions are limited, you can lay the keyboard flat on the desktop, add some brackets at the bottom of the keyboard near the side of the body slightly higher, you can also achieve the effect of DIY fine-tuning;
4. The keyboard is tilted as far as possible towards the computer screen, not towards the person. If conditions are limited, you can also achieve homemade fine-tuning by placing the keyboard flat on the desktop and adding some brackets to slightly elevate the bottom of the keyboard on the side near your body;
5. Don't rest your wrists on the desktop when using the keyboard; a hard desktop can put pressure on the wrist tendons and impede circulation;
6. If you use a keyboard “wrist pad”, also try to make it close to the keyboard space bar, so that the pad and the palm of the hand in full contact, rather than supporting the wrist, but also to avoid long-term use of the keyboard to the wrist pressure.

Some of you may be wondering: no one has ever taught us how to use a keyboard before, and my wrists aren't hurting, are they?
Because the keyboard is dead, people are alive.
In order to avoid the numbness caused by wrist upturn, people will instinctively let the body backward.
When the body backward, the elbow angle naturally increases, making the wrist back to the straight state, wrist pressure problem has been effectively alleviated, but the backward sitting posture will bring more disturbing repeated back pain.
As you can see, a single misuse of the keyboard can affect the joints of the entire body. Some simple “ergonomic design” can make the correct posture easier.
